Tre-Hesglog (Nant y Llyn), stone row

Description : 3 upright stones in a row. Orientation E-W. Both outer stones are irregular and approx. 1m x 1m. Both are leaning over to the N. The middle stone leaning to S. Previously mis-sited (CAP 2000).
Stone row 5.2m long overall composed of 3 upright stones and possible 4th recumbent, aligned NE-SW. Situated on edge of slight shelf overlooking boggy pool, with rock outcrop of Crugyn Ci to SW, on which the row seems to be aligned.
From NE: stone 1 - 1.05m long x0.6m high x 0.2m thick, leaning slightly to E stone 2 - 0.68m long x 0.5m high x 0.12m thick, leaning slightly to SE with sheep scour on NW side. stone 3 - 1.2m long x 0.85m high x 0.2m thick, leaning to NW with sheep scour on NW side. Possible 4th recumbent stone between stones 2 and 3. Good palaeoenvironmental potential with peat over 1m deep surrounding pool c. 50m to SSW. (CPAT 2002)
A prominent, well-preserved and largely intact stone row of the Early Bronze Age. It comprises a row of three standing stones aligned NE-SW and some 5.7m in length. It stands on a prominent knoll overlooking the head of Pant Nant y Llyn and forms an important element in a wider prehistoric funerary and ritual landscape. It retains significant archaeological potential (Cadw, 2003).
Directly in alignment with Maen Serth Esgair Dderw standing stone (PRN 869, RD043), situated about 1.5km to the NE (Cadw, 2003).
Recorded as Tre-Hesglog stone row by RCAHMW (Cadw, 2003).
The original setting of this cist is not understood. It now survives in an area of open moorland. Three upright stones aligned in a short row, on an east to west orientation. The outer stones are measure approximately 1 metre high by 1 metre wide and lean to the north. The central stone is smaller and leans to the south. Modern, coherent descriptions available. (Trysor, 2017)
A short stone row, consisting of three upright stones on a northeast to southwest orientation. The southwest stone measures 1.2 metres long by 0.85 metres high and leans to the northwest. The central stone measures 0.68 metres long by 0.5 metres high and leans to the southeast The northeast stone measures 1.05 metres long by 0.6 metres high and also leans to the southeast. When visited by Trysor in 2022 as part of the NLHF funded Elan Links project, this site was in an area of rough pasture. (Trysor, 2023)
